🦉🎄 Owl Be Home for Christmas: Fun Kids’ Craft With Scrap Wood!

This festive wooden owl craft is the perfect DIY project to make with kids, using simple scrap wood and a bit of creativity. It’s a fun, hands-on way to create a heartfelt Christmas gift that will make any grandparent smile. My daughter and I had a blast crafting this together, and now it’s ready to bring some holiday cheer!

• Scrap wood (3 cm thick, 10 cm wide, 40 cm long for the body)

• Smaller scrap wood (1 cm thick, 18 cm long, 3 cm in diameter for the arms)

• 2 large glass can lids (approx. 5-6 cm diameter for eyes)

• 2 beer caps (for pupils)

• 1/2 of a wooden clothes peg (for the nose)

• 2 short sticks (1x1 cm, approx. 8 cm long for the legs)

• 3 colorful feathers

• 2 wine corks (for antennas)

• Small hanging hook

• Wood glue

• Screws and screwdriver

• Saw

• Sandpaper (120 grit for smoothing edges)

(Optional: Paint, markers, or felt for decoration)

Start by cutting the large piece of scrap wood into a rectangular shape for the body (3 cm thick, 10 cm wide, 40 cm long). Use a saw to cut the bottom at a slight 45-degree angle. Sand all the edges of the wood using 120-grit sandpaper to smooth them out. Next, attach two small scrap wood pieces to the back of the owl’s body as arms, securing them with screws.

For the eyes, attach two glass can lids (5-6 cm diameter) with beer caps in the center, securing them with screws. Use half of a wooden clothes peg as the owl’s nose and glue it onto the face. For the legs, glue two short sticks (1x1 cm, approx. 8 cm long) to the back of the owl’s body.

Now for the fun details! Attach three colorful feathers to the arms and head, securing them with screws. Use two wine corks for quirky antennas on top of the owl’s head. Finally, screw a small hook into the back to hang your owl and enjoy this homemade holiday gift!
