1$ Lamp
The goal of this project was to build a lamp using the waste that can be found from the street and a material that costs a dollar. Except the light bulb that I got from my friend in an exchange of a dollar and some snacks, all the other materials are found from the dumpsters on the street or my room. This will take about 3 to 5 hours to build this lamp if your materials are readied.
Deconstruct Found Material to Get a Part We Need
I started with deconstructing the materials I found from the dumpsters to get a part I need. I found a stage lighting equipment from the dumpsters, which I could get a light bulb socket and a base of my lamp. Then I deconstructed my old hair dryer, which no longer works, to get electric plug and wire.
Make a Base of the Lamp
I cut the echo bag I do not wear to cover the base of my lamp which was a part of the stage lighting equipment. I used white glue to put iron base and fabric together. I used remaining fabric to add details on the base.
Cut Plastic Crates
I cut the plastic milk crates to get hexagonal shaped block. I used a saw to cut the plastic.
Glue the Hexagon Block on the Base of the Lamp
Using glue gun, I glued the hexagon block from the plastic crates around the light bulb. I glued them to make them to look like dome but it can be any shape you would like to.
Connect the Wire
Connect the light socket and wire so that it can electrically functions.
