This is the Second Edition of our Life Hacks with Carabiners series.

We took what is commonly used in rock climbing and hiking and used them in some unusual ways. These hacks were tested and found to be useful in common everyday fashions. I hope you can benefit from some of these awesome life hacks.

Lifehacks are great techniques, tricks, shortcuts, or novelty ways to reuse, upcycle, repurpose, and recycle certain products in uncommon ways to make life easier.

Camping Shower Curtain

Need:

- (6) Carabiners

- Hula hoop

- Tarp

- Rope

If you go camping for extended periods of time, then it is a good idea to take some bathing products.

Of course you will need your soap and water, but besides that, here is a great way to take a simple shower in privacy.

Take a simple hula hoop and hang it from a tree.

Then using some carabiners, attach a tarp to the hoop.

The tarp will act like a shower curtain and you can clean yourself with privacy.

Have fun camping.

Moveable Clothes Line

Need:

- (2) Carabiners

- Rope

If your clothes dryer stops working, here is a simple fix.

Using some rope and two carabiners, you can make a moveable clothes line.

Just hook each carabiner on a strong location with the rope tied to each and now you can let your clothes dry naturally.

Zip Line for Toys

Need:

- Rope

- (1) Carabiner

Children love to play with toys, so add something fun to their collection.

Here is a simple way to make a Zip Line for their toys.

First tie some rope at an angle between two surfaces.

Clip on a carabiner.

Hang the toys from the carabiner and let them slide down the rope.

You can even make it a competition if you add additional ropes.

Cover a Grill

Need:

- Tarp

- (2) Carabiner

If you have an old grill that needs a cover, here is a very simple design.

Take a large tarp and center it over the top of the grill.

Under the grill, place some carabiners through the metal holes in the tarp.

Make sure you have the tarp as tight as possible, so the wind does not pull it off.

Remember to make sure the grill has cooled down before installing.

Hang up Jeans to Dry

Some people do not like to put their jeans in a clothes dryer because it would wear them out quicker.

Instead use 2 carabiners for each pair of jeans and hang them up by their belt loops.

It may take a couple days to fully dry, but there is no added wear and tear.

Hang up Soup Can Holders

Need:

- Soup can (empty)

- Carabiner

Tools:

- Hammer

- Metal Punch

If you are into crafting, here is a simple way to organize your markers.

Using a clean empty soup can, I made a hole near the top.

Make sure to flatten all sharp edges.

Then attach a carabiner through the hole.

You can now hang it just about anywhere the carabiner will fit.

You can also make these for your child’s room.

Have fun crafting.

Simple Pulley System

Need:

- (3) Heavy Duty Carabiners

- Strong Rope

Here is a great way to lift something heavy.

You will need 3 heavy duty carabiners and a strong rope.

You will need 2 places above the object to attach a carabiner.

And a third carabiner will be placed on the object being lifted.

The rope needs to be tied to the first hanging carabiner, run through the one on the object, and then back up through the second hanging carabiner.

As you pull down on the rope, the amount of force needed to pull down on the rope will be about half of the weight of the object.

This is also a great idea for school projects.

And my son suggested using this for his toys.

Hold Towel for Sweating

Need:

- Hand towel

- (1) Carabiner

- Safety pin

If you work outside a bunch, then you have a tendency to sweat a lot in the summertime.

Here is a great way to keep a sweat rag with you at all times.

If you attach a small hand towel to a carabiner by sewing or using a safety pin, you can hang it from your belt loop.

This can also be handy if you work on cars or play sports.

Hold Keys to Zipper in Bag

If you carry around a backpack, here is a great way to attach your keys so they do not get lost in the bottom.

Just use a carabiner to link them to one of your zippers and hang them inside your bag.

Then slide the second zipper up to the first for a secure fit.

Also by attaching your keys, you do not have that bulky feeling in your pocket.

This is really nice when you are taking long hiking or camping trips.

Hold a Sign on a Fence

Carabiners are great at holding a large sign on a fence. They go on and off real easy.

Just make sure that the sign is stretched out as far as possible for best visibility.

If for some reason the sign is a little short to reach the next fence link, just add a second carabiner to the first.
