12 Volt Portable Stereo
These 12 volt stereo coolers are pretty cool and easy to make. I run this on a 12 volt system using an amp to power to speakers. I added a switch on the outside of the cooler also. These are great for camping, tailgating and in the back yard. I have an audio cable coming from the amp with the white and red connectors going to and 3.5mm male audio jack that plugs into a phone or ipod.

Building
Once you have all the supplies for the stereo cooler you'll want to use a sharpee to mark the holes to be cut for the speakers, the switch and the audio jack. I traced the speakers and then used a jig saw to cut out the circles for the speakers. I then screwed them down into the cooler. I also then cut out a hole for switch between the speakers. Then i cut out a hole so the audio cable can come threw and don't have to have to shut the lid on the cable.
Wiring
The wiring of the 12 volt stereo cooler is fairly straight forward. First I mounted the amp to the side of the cooler. There are 7 wires to be connected, and the red and white audio output plugs that convert into an audio jack. Of the 7 wires that I screwed into the amp four of them were for the speakers, 2 postive 2 negitive. Then there was a ground wire that I wired a connector to to plug into the battery. Then I have red wire coming out of the positve slot and a purple wire coming out of the remote slot. I soldered theses to together and then to the swtich. From the the switch I have a red wire with a connector going to the battery.
For transporting I put my 12 volt DC cooler inside with the battery packs in there.
