If you're like me, you bought LED Christmas lights when they were 75% off... you know, for that project down the road. Here's one way to put those strings to good use.

This was up for display at the Orlando Show and Tell (for the two other people that came :P).

Materials

String of LED Lights -- DO NOT USE incandescent type lights
Old Soda Bottles or other interesting clear container

Assembly

Start shoving in your string of LEDs starting at the center of the string. Push in about a foot of one side - and then a foot of the other. I learned the hard way that when you're working with small bottles that the plug doesn't fit through, this is the easiest method ;)

Leave some of the cord out of the bottle so you can plug your accent lamp in somewhere.

Each lamp draws about 2 watts according to m Kill A Watt meter.

If you place this near your desk the soft combination of light is is actually quite "white" and usable (not necessarily to read by though).
