20 Minute Apple Butter
I had Raisin Bread with Apple butter in Waffle House and I just loved it and was very surprised when I realized that it is so easy to prepare and requires very few ingredients. But every recipe that I saw online took 8-10 hours. So I wanted to check if my pressure cooker can help to prepare this dish quickly and I was pleasantly surprised. Apples cooked in 10 minutes and had 95% the consistency and taste of apple butter that I had in Waffle house. So i cooked it for another 5 minutes in the cooker and the outcome was just perfect. So here goes the recipe.....
Ingredients Required :
- Apples - 3 medium any type
Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp heaped
Ground Nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
Ground cloves - 1/8 tsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
Steps to Prepare Apple Butter
- Peel and chop the apples.
Place all the ingredients in a pressure cooker, mix, put the lid and let it cook for 10 minutes(4 vissels).
Once the steam evaporates from the cooker, open the lid.
The apples were already in the form of paste, so i did not need to mash it. Very little liquid was left in the cooker, so I cooked it for another 5 minutes to thicken it.
Let it cool, store it in a airtight container and refrigerate it. Done :)
