3D Imaging for Medical Purposes
The human body is a complex object and explaining medical interventions to others therefor may be quite hard with 2D images. This is why 3D imaging becomes more popular and the quest to cheap and easy machines becomes more important.
For the TfCD course of the faculty Industrial Design Engineering of TU Delft, we (Kees Broekmeulen & Charlotte Kemp) prototyped a fast devices with matching images to illustrate the insertion of a knee implant. In the following steps is explained how this hologram device is made.
Collect Everything You Need
These supplies are:
- Transparant PET
- Paper
- Fineliner
- Stanley knife
- Ruler
- Hot glue
- Smartphone
Making the Template
In the picture, the sizes are indicated. These sizes could be used on laptop, tablet or smartphone. Draw the template on the paper and cut it out with a stanley knife.
Templating
Draw the template four times on the transparant PET with matching sides.
