In this Instructable, I'll show you how to make a neat little checker piece in Tinkercad! It's pretty simple, but looks great, and can be customized however you like. I've simply made it to imitate the checker pieces I'm used to, so you might want to add different symbols or make them slightly larger or smaller to fit your board.

You'll need:
• A Tinkercad account
• A 3D printer
• A checkers/chess board for gameplay

Making the Base

To make the base, start with a cylinder that's 50 * 50 mm and 5 mm tall. I recommend smoothing out the round edge by increasing the "sides" slider to 64. To create the indentation, add a "hole" cylinder and raise it 3 mm. Set the size to 42 x 42 mm and align it with the center of the base.

So now you've got a blank half of a checkers piece. It's progress!

Now, duplicate and move a second base so you have two halves. You're free to decorate them however you like, but I recommend making both sides different so you have one to flip to when the piece is "kinged." I made the regular gameplay side a star, and made a crown by grouping two wedges and a triangle for the king side. Both of these were grouped to a blank side, as shown above.

Combining the Halves

To combine the halves, I recommend doing as follows:

• Lift one half up 5 mm, or the height of your checkers piece.
• Flip the other half 180° upside-down and move it beneath the raised piece.
• Lower the raised piece 2-3 mm, or until the piece is the thickness you'd like.
• Group them together for easier rescaling, if needed.

Now you've got a two-sided little checkers piece! If you're ready to print out a set, I recommend duplicating the piece until you have the amount desired for the set. Happy gaming!
