3D Printed Mug Hugger Cookie Cutter
I love mug hugger cookies. They just warm my heart. They hang on your cup and allow easy access to all the dippage you could want. I wanted to make my own version, so I decided to 3D print a cookie cutter and have the ability to access them any time of the year!
Supplies
- index card
- black marker
- scanner (or phone scanner)
- 3D printing software (I use 3D Printer OS)
- 3D printer (I use an Ultimaker 2+)
Design Your Mug Hugger
Using a sharpie or a thick black marker, draw your design on an index card. Make sure you leave enough room on the bottom for your mug hugger to correctly sit on your mug (remember, the dough will spread). I chose a gingerbread man for this design.
Upload Design to CookieCad
Scan your design and upload it to CookieCad. You can change the desired size of your cookie cutter. I chose 3" for this gingerbread man. Click "Download STL." You may be prompted to sign in--it's free and worth it!
Upload STL to 3DPrinterOS & Print
Upload your STL file to 3DPrinterOS. Make sure your layout settings are correct and your design is set to print on bed. Check that the desired printer is selected (in my case, Ultimaker 2+), then hit "slice."
Again, check that your desired settings have been selected and the object will be sent to the correct printer. I like to print with a raft to allow for easy removal. When you are finished, press "slice" again and print to the desired printer.
Finish Print
Remove your cookie cutter from the printer and detach the raft. Now get baking and enjoy your mug hugger!
*It is advised to use food-safe PLA. Also, make sure you flour your cookie cutter between each cut!
