3D Printed Tool Stand
For 3D printing and other diy hobbies you need many tools. You can have them in your toolbox but they are harder to find when you need them.
A few months ago I got my 3D printer. Along with it came some tools like wrench, spatula and allen keys. Until now I had them in my tool bag. But I don't like that. Since I use them a lot I decided to print a stand. That way I can always have them close at hand.
On my tool stand is place for 5 screwdrivers, 2 wrenches, 5 allen keys, spatula, sd card holder and place for usb keys. I could make bigger stand for all my tools, but I decided for smaller one.
Supplies
Software:
- FreeCAD (or any other CAD software)
- Cura slicer
Tools:
- 3D printer
Material:
- PETG
Design
- Think what tools will be in stand
This should be tools that you use the most.
- Take measurement
Measure diameter of screwdriver, the distance between tools
- Design stand in FreeCAD
Start with sketch where you place holes for your tools. After you pad first sketch make a pocket for usb keys. Next element of stand is sd card holder. You just have to make another pocket. If you want you can use chamfer function to make chamfered edges.
- Export
When model is done the only thing left is exporting. There are many file formats. I used .stl file.
If you don't know how to use FreeCAD you can download my .stl file.

Slice 3d Model
Now you have to slice the model for 3d printing. I recommend Cura slicer. When you open Cura first import the file of the model, then select your filament material and nozzle. Then you have to choose parameters of your model. I used standard quality which is 0.2 mm layer height. Since this stand doesn't have to be strong i used 5% zig zag infill to reduce printing time and material cost. And also for my Ender 3 pro I chose nozzle temperature 220˚C and bed temperature 80˚C. Now slice it and save it on your sd card.
3D Printing
For successful printing you must have leveled bed. After bed is leveled and filament is prepared we can start printing. You can remove strings with lighter.
Insert Tools
After printing is done it is finally time to put in all your favorite tools.
You should also have stand like this one!
