3D Printed USB Hanger Hook
Spring cleaning time!
I don't know about you, but some days my desk is just an absolute disaster... Here's a simple pocket sized solution I came up with to tidy up my desk and keep some commonly used items at arms reach.
Quick overview of the design features -
- The body of the part has a slot so it will flex to accommodate a wider range of USB overmold styles.
- The hook part is angled slightly inward to account a few degrees of droop/sag. This was done to account for USB plugs that may be a little loose.
- The hook section is also split in the middle so it can be used to keep a cable tidy, store an SD card, or hang something like a key ring.
Lets keep this instructable quick and simple - onto the next step!
Tools, Materials and Digital Data
Tools needed:
1. 3D printer or access to a 3D printer
If you don't have a 3D printer you can get a copy of this hook from my website here: USB HANGER HOOK
Also, if you're curious, this is the Amazon link to the 3D printer I used to create this hook: FlashForge 3D Printer (affiliate link)
Materials needed:
1. 3D printer filament
Specifically, this is the exact filament I used: SAINSMART TPU (affiliate link)
I recommend using TPU or similar flexible filament. PLA and other materials will work but can be more difficult to slide over the USB plug. I used 100% infill, you could get away with less.
Data needed:
1. Grab the .STL file attached to this step
This is a quick print that doesn't require any supports or raft.

You've probably already skipped ahead. I don't blame you, I likely would have done the same thing...
You probably already did this too, but just in case - slide the hook onto your USB plug and plug it into your USB port. Start hanging stuff.
Yep, that's it. All done!
Redundant Step?!
Perhaps, but here we are. Time to hang out!
This USB hook easily fits my bluetooth headphones, a small tape measure (affiliate links) and is also a perfect home for the other end of the USB charging cable I have plugged into my monitor.
So yeah, that's all I've got for this one, time to wrap it up.
I hope you liked my little pocket sized USB Hook and if this helped your springtime desk cleaning, please consider voting for me in the Pocket Sized contest.
