3D Printing my Chinese name_HUI

Step 1: Research the Meaning of My Name

/hui/(simplified version) ( original version)

Structure of Chinese Character: Left-Right

Radical ( Simplified version): , means car

Method of Creation: phonogram

It means light, shine.

Step 2: Innovative Interpretation

/hui/ is formed by two parts,

one part /guang/ means light,

and the other part /jun/ means soldier, which reminds me the scene of a soldier holding a torch.

Imagine this, in the moment of danger, people are shrinking in the dark corner and couldn’t find a way out, a soldier appears in front of everyone, with a torch in his hand, bringing people light and hope.

Step 3: Design

I want to apply the image of a soldier in my design. With weapon in his one hand and torch in the other, the soldier is exploring the unknow in front of his team, leaving brightness for people behind. Though it quite simple in modeling, but it perfectly express my undestanding of /hui/.

Step4: 3D Modeling

After a plasticine preprototype, I add more details as helmet and armour to represent the soldier’s identity in my 3D model.

Step5: Further Improvement

If possible, I want to replace the torch with a bulb, and it can be lighted up.
