3D Printing my Chinese name_KUN

​Step 1: Research the Meaning of My Name

坤/kun/ (simplified version is the
same as original version) Structure of Chinese Character:

Left-Right Radical ( Simplified version): 土, means soil

Method of Creation: phonogram

It is one of the eight trigrams, stands for the earth.

Step 2: Innovative Interpretation

In ancient times of China, people use /qian/ and /kun/ to represent heaven and earth. And the earth is .

It is formed with two parts, one is /tu/, means soil. And other part is /shen/, it is a pictograph, showing a picture that a river across the farmland, sounds familiar to everyone.

In my opinion, the character shows an image of compatibility, it nourish creatures and could carry everything in the world.

Step 3: Design

Taking the exterior shape of as a reference, I created a vast farmland, where planted with fruits, trees, wheat, and vegetables, a buffalo is captivating, farmers are seeding, cars on the road and boats in the river. This is what I would like to use to reflect the unique feature of the earth, it takes everything in a harmony.

Step4: 3D Modeling

In my 3D model, the image above can be perfectly built. However, due to the limitation of 3D print machines, I amplified the things on the earth to make it realizable in 3D printouts.
