3D Printing a Headphone Stand

This headphone stand was built for my brother so that he did not have to keep his headphones laying on the ground or on his desk. My goal was to make it as simple and cool looking as I could while still keeping it functional. My initial design was too big for certain 3D printers and because I use 3D Hubs for all of my prints, I wanted to print it in two pieces to cut down the cost. I decided on printing it in wood to give it a cool look and so I found a hub that printed using a Prusa i3 that could print in Wood Fiber PLA for a very good price and my two pieces were just the right size for the printer.

All you need is the design and the printed part. I included a hole for a bolt just in case the two parts were too loose and could be fastened together with a bolt. The bolt is not necessary but it could help.

Assembly is very easy: all you have to do is place the top piece into the bottom piece. When I first got the print, the fit was VERY tight, but I worked it in and it stays in great now.

Because the print is made out of wood, it can be finished in many different ways. The surface of the wood can be sanded down and smoothed out with Danish Oil or an oil similar to Danish Oil. The object can also be stained with any stain that you would normally stain any other piece of wood with so the possibilities with those are very great. I like the look of the raw product so I didn't finish it at all but it would not be hard and the end product would look great.

Now just use the mount for what it was made for. Hopefully my design is easy to use for you and looks good enough to display your headphones.
