3Dish Horse Head Made Out of Oak

Made this out of a scrap oak piece for my sis for Christmas this year!

Bandsaw,
Tablesaw,
Dremel tool with wood cutting wheel and carving bit,
Design with carbon paper,
Image of horse jaw muscle as well as under the chin,
Stain (if you choose to stain it),
150 grit sandpaper
Scrap wood big enough for your design.

Cut you a piece of wood big enough for the horse head with the talblesaw. Next trace the outline of your horse onto the wood. Once the outline has been transferred to the wood use the bandsaw to cut it out.

Next you need to draw the details on the piece. I looked at the images and just free styled it on.. * I changed plans a little bit, instead of making it 2D I decided to make it 3Dish.

After roughly marking out the details, use the wood cutting wheel to cut the majority of them out. Once you have that done, switch to the carving bit for the more precise details like the eyes, nose and ears.

Once the detailed work has been carved out, the next thing to do is cut the mane and the mouth with the bandsaw.

Next take the 150 grit sandpaper, and sand the horse head down to where it feels smooth to the touch. After getting it feeling smooth take the stain and stain the entire piece. Wipe away any extra stain, then let dry.

Once the stain has dried you are finished!
