3d Printed Hand Ascender

I made a 3d printable hand ascender for rope/tree climbing as a cheap alternative to most expensive hand ascenders. Instead of a cam it uses a prusik knot and some some spines to move up the rope.

to make this you will need PLA filament a plastic welding gun and some sort of prusik cord. I printed this at 100% infill with a small layer height to increase strength.

download the file here or above and 3dprint the part at 100% infill and 0.1mm layer height with supports enabled. Remove all supports sanding the bottoms overhangs to smoothen them.

Find a retalivitly straight wire for the plastic welder and insert it into the tip of the welder. Pull the trigger to heat up then push 4-8 mm into the sides and top of the loop for the carbineer to strengthen it.

tie a prusik of VT knot on to your rope with your prusik cord then slot the rope into the back to the hand piece. finally tie or clip the 2 together and test before actual use. And remember to have fun have fun.
