4 Player Interactive Trivia Board Game

unnamed.jpg

I made a 4 player interactive trivia board game that allows friends to compete to get the most questions correct out of 10 and keeps track of the score!

Supplies

  • laser cutter
  • wood
  • acrylic
  • 5 external buttons with supporting wires
  • speaker
  • Raspberry pico-W
  • battery support
  • light strip
  • touchpad sensor
  • wood glue
  • hot glue
  • SD card and SD card reader

Download the Code

Download the code and upload it to mu. Then download the code onto your Pico W. Also, download the audio files as well, and put them in a folder called "final-proj-sounds" on your SD card. Feel free to customize the questions and any other sound effects used but be sure to save them as .wav files and put them in this folder.

Wire Up the Board

You are going to need to wire up 5 external buttons, a touchpad sensor, and a speaker to your Pico W and match the input signal wiring to that of the code.

Prototype

Create your laser cutting file using Adobe Illustrator. This will be a box and the lid to the box will be as pictured above. The lid will include 5 holes that will fit your external buttons, and one in the center that you can wire your touchpad sensors through. Similarly, put 3 holes in the side of one of the box walls, so that your light strip, battery connecting wire, and speaker connecting wire can be exposed. Accessorize the board to your liking. Laser Cut this with cardboard and this will be your prototype!

Create Your Board

When your prototype looks good, go ahead and cut it with wood! Insert the buttons to your board. Similarly, add copper tape that will act as your touchpads, and alligator clip those patches of tape to your touchpad sensors. The laser cutting files that I used are attached.

Enjoy Your Game!

Play with your friends and enjoy your newest creation!
