4270 Final Project Tutorial - Circuit Playground Night Light/White Noise
Throughout the past few years of my life, I've struggled with a lot of issues while sleeping. Whether it be from insomnia, waking up constantly throughout the night, or other underlying issues. I've tried many different pills and and solutions and haven't found the perfect potion that works for me. Considering this, I decided to make something that would help myself, and other people be able to sleep better.
Supplies
-felt
-scissors
-pens/markers
-ribbon of choice
-circuit playground
-conductive thread
-needle
-electrical tape
-hot glue gun
Code Your Circuit Playground
I created the code to have the lights in the circuit playground be a light blue color that dims and brightens, but you have the option to change it to whatever color(s) preferred. I also used the "play melody" input to create my own white noise lullaby song. That song can be duplicated, or changed, depending on personal preference.
Design & Cut Out Shapes
Cut out 2 pieces of felt (or fabric of choice) to make the front and back sides of what will be the sleeping mask. An optional addition is to cut out extra pieces to put on top as decorations. For the decorations, I chose to cut letter "z" out of felt to add an additional aspect and to fit the theme of the sleep device. After cutting out the decorations, glue them onto one of the pieces of the mask.
Connect Circuit Playground
Using conductive thread, sew a few stitches and loop through the A3 button on your circuit playground so it can later be activated as an interactive button. Make sure to center the arduino in the middle of the mask.
Secure Circuit Playground
Add electrical tape to secure the circuit playground in place. *make sure tape is electrical, so it does not act as a conductor*
Assemble Mask
Using hot glue, attach the front and back piece of the mask together, ensuring that the circuit playground is securely placed inside of the two pieces. After this, mark with a pen on your mask right above where the A3 button is. Cut a small circle out around that dot so that users can interact with and press the button.
Finish Up Final Touches!
Glue two pieces of ribbon to each end of the mask, then your project should be complete!
