6 Step Water Bottle Rope Wrap

This is an easy bottle wrap you can apply to just about any of your bottles at home. I came across this wrap because I noticed that even if I didn't drop my metal bottle, it would still accumulate dinks and dents over time. This wrap prevents your bottle from damaging when dropped and gives grip to your bottle to prevent dropping in the first place. This also doubles as survival cordage, easily unwoven for fast deployment in any needed situations.

Supply List-

• Bottle (Example- hydro flask, thermo flask, yeti, life straw)
• Cutting tool- scissors, knife, or rope cutter
• Lighter- bbq lighter / handheld
• Rope of choice- paracord, cordage, twine, nano cord, etc.
• Optional- measuring tape or yardstick

Note-Thicker diameter rope was used for easier instructional viewing, but also provides better protection for your bottle.

First thing you'll want to do to start this project is estimate your length needed for your bottle wrap. For any normal metal water bottle I would average around 15ft -25ft of rope needed to complete this project.

• Find your wanted length of rope then cut it to match

• With a lighter, carefully melt both ends to avoid fraying (as showed above)

Find exact or estimate the middle of your rope and mark with a sharpie.

(make sure your mark is visible on the rope)

Begin your Bottle Wrap

• Wrap the ropes middle (marked with sharpie) around your bottle

• Cross your left rope on-top/over your right rope

• Cross your new left rope on-top/over your new right rope, essentially repeating the last step

• Press rope against bottle and make neat

Continuing Bottle Wrap

• Cross your right rope on-top/over your left rope

• Cross your new right rope on-top/over your new left rope, essentially repeating the last step

• Press rope against bottle and make neat

• Continue the same steps to wrap up your whole bottle

Note- step 4 is an Inverse of step 3

As you continue your bottle wrap remember to keep aligned and straight with each knot you place other wise it will not look neat or symmetrical.

You can fix this problem by paying attention as you go and adjusting the knots to be lined up/straight.

• Tie a simple knot at the top of your water bottle

• Snip both ends of your rope

• To finish your wrap, melt your loose ends on either side and let cool

If Wanted

• Take your excess rope

• Tie one knot, then another of the same type on top of it

• Take your rope and cut to wanted length of handle (keep in mind your next step will lessen your rope length)

• Then place a knot at the end of your rope handle and cut the rest off to be flush with the knot

• Lastly to keep neat and flush melt both cut ends of your knot to complete your handle
