I recently crafted a clay mask of Lord Krishna from natural clay, capturing his serene expression. This project let me explore traditional art while honoring Krishna’s timeless beauty.

Supplies

Natural Clay, Paint, Paint Brushes, Papers, Tape

Newspaper Base

We make a base with newspaper in the shape and size of the mask, and tape it to our workspace.

we apply a layer of natural clay on top of the paper base in the previous step, and cut out the excess clay, to define its shape.

Add the features of the mask, like the nose, eyes, ears and feather.

Apply primer, before you move on to painting, so that the paint is well absorbed.

Paint the Mask

After priming the mask, add vibrant colors to bring it to life. Start with the base colors for the larger areas, then use smaller brushes to add details like the eyes, jewelry, and facial features. Let each layer dry before applying the next for a smooth, polished finish.
