A Guide to Bass Fishing

One of my favorite things to do here in Rockwell, is fish at Lake Ray Hubbard. The main species us fisherman fish for here is the large mouth bass. But you can't just go buy a pole and expect to catch a bass. You have to know how to. With that being said, these are my favorite lures and techniques.

Time

The best time to fish is during spawn. This is when the fish come closer to land to lay eggs and eat any thing. This occurs from late February to early April.

Where

During spawn and post spawn (summer) you want to find grassy or Rocky areas and cast along this area.

Techniques

In these areas you will be most successful with KVD caffeine shads on a gamatsu offset 3/0 hook. Just slowly retrieve through the grass for the best results.

My Catches

Over the past 2 days, I've caught 3 fish at my local ponds. 2 are shown above but my phone was dead when I caught the other. The one where I'm seen in the black shirt was caught with a KVD brush hog on a gamatsu 1/0 offset hook and the other on a KVD square bill crank bait with a bit of liquid mayhem on the lure. I used the technique in this instructable to catch both.
