A Sustainable Home Design for a Temperate Forest
Making this sustainable house was interesting and overall a good time! Although it was a lot of work in the end it was all worth it! In order to make this project there are many steps. The exact definition of sustainable is to be, "Able to be maintained at a certain rate or level."
Supplies
-cardboard
-paint
-Popsicle sticks
-cotton balls
-pipe-cleaners
-paper
-Styrofoam
Getting the Supplies!
The first thing I did was go to a craft store and got all of my supplies such as Popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and Styrofoam. At my house I already had the paper, paint, wood glue, cotton balls, and cardboard from cereal boxes.
Making the Walls!
The second step is to start conducting the project and to do that you will start gluing about 12 Popsicle sticks with wood glue and making 4 sets of those.
Painting!
Then I took all of the pieces of cardboard/paper (used for my body of water, windows, door, roof, grass, etc) you need and cut and paint them the needed color with acrylic paint.
The Garden!
Next I glued all of those pieces together. While all of that was drying I got started on my garden. The first step with the garden was to cut of the chunk of Styrofoam and painting the dirt brown and the side gray.Once that drys I started to dot all of the fruits and vegetables and glue the brown pipe-cleaners in between each row. To complete the garden all I did was add some Popsicle sticks to the side.
Body of Water and Feild!
Then I glued the garden and body of water onto the green piece of paper to act as the grass.
Final Touches!
Once all of that was finished I made the last couple of designs on the house such as the lights, the bowl to catch water, solar panels, and all of the extra pieces made earlier.
Making the Heat and A.C!
To finalize the whole project I took two more chunks of Styrofoam and pained one blue and one red and then I labeled the blue one A.C and the red one heat.
All Done!
This is the final product!
