AV Cable to Nikon and Canon SLR Camera

Most SLR cameras have an optional AV-out connection to preview photos on a flat screen or TV set. As most hotels and hostels around have this installed in apartments and rooms, this photo feature is very nice to take advantage of when on vacations. Most people enjoy watching "fresh" photos, which also obviously is one of the key features of shooting digital.

So, having lost my recently acquired AV cable, I figured out that this time, I had to make it myself. The construction is rather simple too, and parts can be purchased at your local general purpose store.

So, what's needed:
- Phono plug
- 3.5mm jack plug
- a cable with two conductors

To solder the parts you'll ned a copper bit and some tin solder.

Disassemble the plugs. This should normally be no problem at all.

(An alternative is to use existing "plastic welded" which tend to be impossible to disassemble. Here you simply cut of the wiring, and invesetigate which conductor combination which leads to perfect Tv picture)

The pin of the phono plug is connected to the "tip" of the 3.5mm jack plug. The "inside" plug connectors are the one located closest to the back of the plug.

The ones charaterized by the long thin shape are the other conductor, and shall be connected similarly.

The end product can be used at any compliant tv set, and with most digital Nikon and Canon SLRs :)
