Akki Kadlebele (Rice and Channa Dal) Payasa

Akki kadalebele payasa is one of the easiest, delicious and one of of the many payasa prepared during festivals in India.

Supplies

1 Cup Rice

1 Cup Chana Dal

Jaggery (Sugar can be used as substitute)

Coconut Powder

Cardamom

Ghee

Cashew, Almond and dry raisins


Preparation

  1. Soak Chana Dal and rice separately.
  2. Wash them thoroughly.


Cooking Rice and Dal

1.Now transfer rice and chana dal into a pressure cooker.

2.Add water to a level above the ingredients.

3.Heat the cooker for 3 to 4 whistles. Make sure the rice and dal are both cooked well.

Preparation of Coconut Powder

!! This step can be skipped if u have a readymade coconut powder.

1.Dehusk and break the coconut into two.

2.Carve out the white portion from the shell.

3.Chop it into small pieces.

3.Pulse the coconut pieces in a grinder until well ground.


Coconut Milk

1.Add 2 cardamom and 2 almond to the fresh obtained coconut powder.

2.Add water sufficiently and grind it till u get a semi milky liquid.

Preparing Dry Fruits

Take a pan and add little ghee.

Now add cashew and raisins.

Fry them till they become slight brownish in color.

1.Boil the cooked rice and dal on medium low heat.

2.Now transfer the obtained coconut milk and Dry fruits into it and stir it well.

Sweetness

!! In this step sugar can be used as a substitute

Add jaggery as per your requirement for sweetness

Boil till the jaggery is dissolved and your required sweetness is obtained in medium low heat.
