Amazing Newton’s Cradle From Cardboard
Making a Newton's Cradle out of cardboard is a fun and educational project. Here's a step-by-step guide to making a working model using cardboard, marbles, and a few other common materials.
Supplies
List of Materials:
- Cardboard
- Marble ball
- Bamboo sticks
- Glue
- Cloth yarn
Cardboard Cutting
Base: Cut a rectangular piece of cardboard for the base. Approximately 12x10 cm.
Frame: For the frame, cut two vertical pieces of cardboard about 25 cm long and about 5 cm wide.
Make the Frame
Glue the base pieces (the two side panels) to the base, making sure they are upright and evenly spaced.
Then connect the two ends with two bus sticks.
Prepare the Balls
Select 5 small balls of the same size. Then attach them to the marbles with fabric thread and glue.
Attach the Strings to the Frame
Attach 5 marbles at a distance of 2 cm. The balls should hang parallel to each other, and all the balls should be approximately the same length.
Testing
After assembling, test your Newton's Cradle a few times to make sure it's working as expected. It may take some fine-tuning to get the perfect motion.
With these steps, you'll have a fully functional Newton's Cradle made of cardboard that demonstrates the physics of momentum and energy transfer!
