Antiqued Night Stands

Just writing a quick ible to show off our antiqued night stands.

This is our first attempt at antiquing and I hope these pictures will help others trying to do the same.

• 80 grit sandpaper (for finish removal)
• 200 grit sandpaper (for antiquing paint)
• Painters tape
• Antique White paint
• Paper towels
• Plastic sheet (for painting area)

First off, we sanded the surfaces that we would later paint Antique White.

Next we used a damp paper towel to remove the debris and then used painters tape to layout our painting. Next of course came painting sections we wanted white.

We honestly made most of it up as we went along. My girlfriend wanted to paint them entirely white, but I really like to see the wood. The final appearance was a little give and take on both our parts.

Once the paint dried, we came back with 200 grit sandpaper and antiqued as best we could.

The biggest thing we kept in mind was to wear the edges down first because that's where furniture would be rubbed the most and lose it's paint first.

I'm fairly proud of my first antiquing shown in the picture above.

We placed one by our bed and the other in the living room next to our reading chair.

The more I look at them, the more I love them. Especially mine next to the bed. It really fits our unintentional jungle theme stemming from our plant in the corner.
