We recently celebrated birthdays with these delicious Apple Pup-Cakes and I though I would share them with all the dog mom and dads. These were a BIG hit!

Bake the Pup-Cakes

Cake Ingredients:

1 ½ cups whole wheat flour

1/3 cup unrefined melted coconut oil or light olive oil

¼ cup unsweetened apple sauce

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon baking powder

Olive oil or coconut oil spray

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. Line 12 a cup cupcake pan with cupcake liners and spray with oil, set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and scoop out equal amounts into cupcake pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean from the cake.

Make the Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut Butter Ball Ingredients:

1 cup peanut butter (all natural or one that only contains peanuts. Please read the label, some peanut butters contain artificial ingredients that can be very harmful to your dog)

½ cup old fashioned oats

Unsweetened fine coconut flakes

Directions:

Place peanut butter and oats into a food processor and pulse for a few seconds until the peanut butter and oats bind and have a crumbly consistency. Form one teaspoon of the mixture into balls and roll in coconut flakes.

My dogs love these peanut butter balls alone. And they are perfect for hiding pills. I have a very difficult one who is impossible to give a pill to, until these little snack pockets came along. He just gobbles it up and the pill is gone. Love it!

Make the Icing and Fresh Apple Bone Garnish

Icing Ingredients:

½ cup powdered sugar

2 table spoons water (add more if sugar glaze is too thick)

Mix water and sugar and place in plastic bag. Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag, for easy piping.

*Please only use a very small amount of glaze on the pup-cakes. Just like us, most dogs love sweets (mine do, for sure) it is not good for them.

Fresh apples for garnish (optional, they look cute, but they were left behind)

Slice apple into thin slices and with a small bone cookie cutter cut out a bone shape.

Enjoy the Party
