Arcade Stick Daisy Chain Wiring

Easy, simple, clean wiring

There are many methods of wiring, this is my preferred method of daisy chaining because it is simple and clean looking.

Uses -

You can cut the number of wires in your arcade stick/fight stick in half by removing the ground wires and replacing them with one wire. This makes any other electrical modding much easier.

Supplies -

• Wire Strippers
• Wire Crimpers
• Spool of 26 gauge wire
• Small pair of scissors
• IMPORTANT - .110 x.020 Female Disconnects (these fit snugly on Sanwa and Siemitsu buttons, most .110 disconnects are sold with a larger than .020 width and will be loose, so look for .110 x .020

1. With the wire attached to the spool, strip about 2cm (3/4 inches) of it.
2. Fold the exposed wire in half, then insert it through the top (see picture) of the Quick Disconnect.
3. Crimp the wire so that the metal folds in tightly onto the exposed wire. (See the pictures)

1. Attach the crimped daisy chain to the button that you wish to start at (with the wire still attached to the spool).
2. Pull the wire so that it is about a little more than 1 cm (3/8 inches) past the post of the next button, then cut it.
3. Strip 1 cm from the wire you just cut, and 1 cm from the wire attached to the spool.
4. Twist the exposed wire together, then crimp them the same as in step 1.
5. Repeat this for the rest of the chain.
6. After the last button leave an excess amount of wire so that you can reach your PCB board, or ground terminal and trim it down to size.

• You can cut the wire into 6 cm (2 1/4 in) pieces then strip 1 cm from each end and proceed to form the chain that way. As a result though some buttons may have more slack than others, or not reach the next button.
• You can insert the wire through the bottom of the connect like normal, but it doesn't come out as clean and can make it hard to close the stick.
• You can solder the wire to the disconnects as well. This will make them much stronger, but unless you plan to change your buttons out very often, I don't feel it is needed.
• Now that you understand the basics of it you can have fun and change it up to go with the theme of your stick, even use multiple colored wire if you want.
