Hello creative people, In this project i will show you how to make rotating display table that turns 360 degrees and is packed with lots of features.

This arduino powered display table is not like any other table that is available on the market, You may now ask why is that?

Well! let me tell you why

This rotating display table comes with a OLED display and will show many statuses that is useful for any hobbyist/photographer/videographer

You can adjust the speed of rotation and since we are using stepper motor you can always expect precise movements with no vibration.

There is an option to move the stand clockwise and in anticlockwise along with speed control.

The setup is powered by USB power meaning you can use any USB source to power this and use this project

Size of this project is small and it works best indoors as well as outdoors, Me being a hobbyist videographer have made many videos of electronics components and achieved great shots.

Don't miss to check the build video and creative shoots that was taken from this project on the last steps of this instructables.

I made the design using Tinkercad application and I have given the files for you to use for free, Also you can customize the model as per your needs.

Stls are available below for your use, Download it and open the files in any slicer, i used cura and also i have given the settings that i used to slice the model.

There is no need to give rafts or supports and this is an advantage for us since it eliminates the need to post process the model after printing.

Turn on your printer, Feed the color of PLA filament of your choice and start the 3d printer.

It will not take much time to print the parts, After the print is complete save it for later use.

Here i have not given STL for OLED board 3d printed thing and knob for rotary encoder, you can find many files for this online feel free to use the best designs suitable for your use.

Circuit and Codes

Circuit Diagram rotating table.jpg

The circuit is straightforward for this project, I have made the circuit diagram very simple but i can make it even simpler for you guys by explaining component wise

The stepper motor connections are as follows

IN1 to D8

IN2 to D9

IN3 to D10

IN4 to D11

VCC to 5V and GND to GND

OLED board connections

Vcc and gnd to 5v and Gnd on the nano board

SCK to A5 and SDA to A4 pin on the nano

Rotary Encoder Connections

CLK to D2

DT to D3

SW to D4

+ to 5V and GND to GND

After these connections are complete, Copy and paste the below arduino program to your IDE

Connect nano board to computer, Select proper board type, type of board and click on upload

This is my favorite part, All you have to do is assemble the electronic to the 3d printed parts and i will now tell how to do that.

I will start by connecting the stepper to the base of 3d printed enclosure, This will hold the motor and its driver.

The press fit type of enclosure eliminates the use of additional glue/adhesive, Just place and gently press the components and you are good to go.

Now place the other electronics on the board and use hot glue/double sided adhesive to keep them intact.

Place the knob on the shaft of stepper and this also does not need any glue to fit, i also made a 3d printed part to hold the OLED board, since it was not my work i didn't share the model.

Check online for free STLs for this part, Glue to the base and fix the OLED board, There are plenty of designs for the knob part of potentiometer.

Since the space was limited on the board, make sure all the components are placed well and all the wires are intact.

This completes almost all the assembly part except for the table part and we will now see in the next step on how that can be made.

Display Stand

To make the display stand there are many other ways but first let me tell you the method that i followed and i will say why i did so.

I made use of a cd that was not in use, I marked the dimensions of CD on a piece of paper, Cut the marked areas and pasted it on the CD.

My choice of color was white, Use the type of colors that you need, You can use different color background. I recommend using standard colors like white to the background.

Place this display stand on the center of stepper motor hub and now the stand is ready for using.

Testing and Using

Using this is very easy, Just connect the nano board to USB supply and check for the status on the OLED board.

Place the object on the stand and press on the rotary encoder center button, When you do this the status on the OLED will show from stopped to running.

Turn on the knob according to the speed of rotation you require and proceed to record the video for your project.

Oh wait! There is an option to turn the table in anticlockwise direction also, The use of stepper motor ensures that the movement are precise and you can expect best quality videos along with smooth and vibration free movements.

If you shoot video and photo of small electronics components then this project is for you.

You can customise the background colors as you need depending on the type of project, You can always check for the status, number of rotation and clockwise or anticlockwise type of rotation on the OLED message board.
