Assassin's Creed 3 Tomahawk for Cheap!
This was made for a friends birthday who loves assassin's creed. I didn't want to take a trip to home depot so I had to use what I found in my room and it came out pretty well. Let's get started, shall we?
Shopping List
Wooden dowel the size of the handle
Thin sheets of foam
Paint (silver, brown)
Thumbtacks
The cardboard back of a note pad x3
Blade
I looked at bunches of pictures on the internet and then went to designing how I want the blade to look later. Once I had something I was happy with I traced it around 5 times and cut it out using an exacto knife. I also did this to the back point.
Blade Ii
After cutting the shapes out of cardboard I took it to my workbench. I hot glued the pieces to fit perfectly together and took a dremel to them where unevenness occurred, then I simply painted it silver. I only used three layers of cardboard for the back point which worked but was a little unstable. I suggest you use 4 or 5 layers in the back as well. Also, in the game, the blade is rounded to a point on the parts where you cut with it. I didn't do this because I was afraid I would take to much off it but if you like you can simply do this with a dremel.
Handle
For the handle I used a thin sheet of EVA foam and a wooden dowel. I simply cut out a rectangle of foam and wrapped it around the top of the handle glued it, and painted it silver. Then I took a bigger rectangle and wrapped it around the lower handle. This one I painted brown.
Finishing Up
Finally take your thumbtacks, remove the colorful bits of it and attach all four of them at even spacing on the handle. Then take your string and wrap it around the middle part of the tomahawk head to make an "X" tie it down, add a feather and beaded rings if you wish, take photos and edit them to chop someones head off and you are done!
