Automatic Compost for Home Use Made From Recyclable Materials

This project is about something revolutionary but really simple. Most people know what compost is but if you don't it is decayed matter that is usually used for purposes like fertilizer.

Supplies

The supplies you will need are the following.

  1. One shoe box
  2. Some leftover fruits
  3. Some newspapers or other paper
  4. Some dirt
  5. Some plastic bottles (preferably in a ratio to you shoe box)
  6. Egg shells

The supplies you will need are the following.

  1. 1 Cup
  2. Scissors
  3. knife
  4. Something to make a small hole (pin)
  5. Markers

Making the Compost Ready

1. Put all your fruits and eggshells in the shoebox

2. Put the dirts on top and mix up the pile

3. Rip the newspapers into small pieces and put 5-10 in there

Making the Box Ready

  1. Make a small hole in the top of your bottles, this will choose how much water comes in
  2. Put a the caps on the box and draw holes
  3. Cut the holes out the holes and place the bottles in the
  4. Cut off the bottom of the bottles

  • You could add worms to the mixture and make healthier compost
  • Adding leaves could make the compost faster

In the end, you have this awesome automatic composter completely made out of recycled parts. Wait a few months and you will be ready to plant.
