Making avocado smash is a really quick and simple way to use up a leftover avocado or jazz up breakfast.

Avocados now seem to be universally recognised as awesomely good for you, and they're rich in vitamins and Omega fats, so go ahead and eat this on without feeling guilty!

Ingredients

All you really need is an avocado (talk about simplicity!), but to spice things up, I used some extra things as well:

  • juice (+ flesh if you love citric acid) of half a lime
  • some spices – use anything in the cupboard. I used
    • pinch of chilli flakes
    • some ground ginger
    • a few mustard seeds

You probably don't want as much of the spices as in the picture unless you like things spicy, but I though that it was quite nice... A ¼ tsp. will probably be adequate for each.

Chop

Slice & dice the avocado. That's it.*

*unless you happen to need to chop the lime as well, but I'm trying to make this seem simple!

Mix

Mix. In a bowl. Enough said.

Smash

Proceed to smash the ingredients with a suitable blunt instrument, like a fork. This works best when you mash against the side of the bowl. Continue until everything has reached a reasonably spreadable consistency and your spices are mixed in.

Serve

Spread the avocado smash on some buttered (go on, this is healthy enough!) toast and dig in. It'll be gone before you know it...
