Take your kids cloth ( Tee shirt works well ).

For Bodice pattern, Fold the shirt in half and trace around the neckline, shoulder and front. Then trace the sleeve shape and down the side of the shirt.

Then even up the sides and draw a line between the two sides with a ruler.

Add 3/8" -1/2" to the bodice piece, to leave room for the zipper.

For sleeve pattern, trace around the clothing.

Now cut the pattern pieces.

Cut the Fabrics

Now cut out your bodice and sleeves from the fabric.

Bodice :

Without extension : Cut 2 of the front on the fold. 1 of main fabric, 1 of lining

With extension : Cut 4 of the back. 2 of main, 2 of lining.

Sleeve:

Then cut two sleeves on the fold.

For Accent fabric, cut 8" long, 1.5" wide

Skirt:

Cut 36" long, 9" wide for the Skirt in Main and lining fabric.

Cut 36" long, 3.5" wide for accent fabric.

Bodice:

These are the four pieces you should have for your bodies and sleeves. 2 cut for the front ( one lining and one main) and 4 cut for the back ( two main , two lining fabric) and two sleeve pieces.

Now, place your lining and main fabric back and front sides together, and sew together at the shoulder seams.

Then lay the two bodice pieces right sides together like so and pin around the neck. Sew around the neckline and clip the curves.

Sleeves:

Now take the accent fabrics for sleeves, Iron them in half lengthwise and then fold both inside and iron those in. It will look like bias tape.

Then take your sleeve pieces and sew gathering stitches on top and bottom of sleeve.

Then, pin the two ends of accent fabrics to the sleece, then gather the bottom of the sleeve to fit the accent fabric.

Then sew that on close to the upper edge of the accent fabric.

Repeat the same procedure for the other sleeve.

Next, gather the top of the sleeve to fit the arm hole on bodice, then pin those right sides together.

Then sew the sleeve in and finish your seams with zig zag stitch.

Stitch Skirt and Attach It to Bodice

Take your skirt fabric pieces : Main fabric 36" long by 9" wide and accent fabric 36" long by 3.5" wide.

Iron the accent piece in half lengthwise and set aside.

Place your lining and main fabric back and front sides together, and sew a gathering stitch along the top of the skirt, then gather it to fit the bottom of the bodice. Then pin and sew them together.

Now sew the ironed accent fabric at the bottom of the skirt.

Turn both bodice and skirt inside out and pin around the edges.

Then sew the edges and finish your seam with zig-zag stitches.

Stitch Zipper

Iron the zipper teeth from the back side and by moving down the zipper with point of your iron. (Please be careful, do not melt the zipper teeth)

Now, lay out the dress inside out and then fold and sew the both side ends separately.

Now lay the zipper out right side up.

Pin the zipper to the back side of the fabric edges and sew it from bottom to top.

Repeat it for the other side.

Now turn the dress to right side out and stitch on close near to the zipper on both sides.

Decorate It As Your Wish
