Banana Bread Instructable
Have you ever wanted to make an easy homemade recipe? Today we will show you how to make homemade banana bread in around 1 hour and a half. Having baking skills is an important life skill and this instructable will help you learn one. This is one of the first things that I learned to bake and I thought it would be important to share with everyone. This instructable is broken down into the things that you will need such as ingredients, tools, safety information and then a step by step guide with pictures.
Supplies
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cup Sugar
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 3 med ripe Bananas ( roughly 1 cup mashed)
- ¾ cup of buttermilk
Tools:
- 1 large mixing bowl
- Spatula
- Oven Mitts
- Dish Soap and cleaning equipment (sponge, rag, etc)
- Wooden spoon
- Oven
- 1 Non-Stick bread pan
- Full set of measuring utensils cups/teaspoons
- Pam cooking spray (if you don’t have a non-stick bread pan)
Safety Information:
- Make sure you cook the banana bread the full 1-hour duration at 325 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid food illness.
- We will be using an oven and hot pans, make sure to utilize oven mitts and handle hot contents carefully.
- Make sure all of your ingredients are not outdated and are fresh. Especially the buttermilk and eggs.
- Make sure to use clean utensils when handling raw ingredients to avoid cross-contamination.
- Have a clean work/prep station for cooking to avoid food poisoning.
- Before serving, confirm no one has allergies to any food used in the baking process.

- It should take around 75 minutes to complete this baking project
Prepare the Oven:
Preheat a conventional oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit
Gather Your Ingredients
Assemble you’re required dry and wet ingredients

Adding Sugar
Measure out 1 ½ cups of sugar and add to the large mixing bowl
Adding Flour
Measure out 1 ¾ cups of flour and add to the same large mixing bowl
Adding Baking Soda
Measure out 1 teaspoon of baking soda and add to the large mixing bowl
Adding Buttermilk
Measure out ¾ cup of Buttermilk and add to a large mixing bowl that has the dry ingredients in it.
Adding Bananas
Peel the 3 bananas and add them to the mixing bowl
Adding Eggs
Crack open two eggs over the mixing bowl and add them with the other ingredients

All of the ingredients now should be in the mixing bowl ready to mix and look similar to the picture
Mix the Ingredients
Mix the ingredients together using the wooden spoon until most lumps are gone.
- Make sure to stir in all the flour and sugar, it can stick to the edges of the bowl.
- You can use the Spatula to clean up flour and sugar on edges of mixing bowl
Pouring the Mix
- before pouring the bread mix into the bread pan please note if your pan is non-stick or not
- If your pan is not non-stick you will need to grease with butter or canned spray such as Pam
Pour the mix in the mixing bowl into the bread pan
Cooking Time
Place the bread pan in the now preheated oven that is at 325 degrees Fahrenheit and set a timer for 1 hour.
Cleaning Up Supplies
While you are waiting for your banana bread to cook, make sure to clean the utensils you used for cooking.
Oven Mitts
After one hour of cooking put on your oven mitts as the pan will be hot and prepare to take out the bread from the oven.
Handling the Banana Bread
Warning: Bread pan will be hot, handle with oven mitts as pan may cause burns if handled with bare skin.
Using your oven mitts, take the banana bread out of the oven and set on a heat resistant surface, such as the oven burners or hot pads.
Checking the Banana Bread
Check if the bread is done by inserting a utensil or toothpick into banana bread and seeing if raw batter sticks to the utensil.
- If no batter sticks your banana bread is done, turn the oven off and let sit to cool
- If the batter does still stick to the utensil, cook for longer repeating step 17 every 5-10 minutes
Completion
Congratulations! you should now have a banana bread loaf as pictured. The loaf of bread should have a golden-brown surface with some lighter spots in the middle. The bread when cut into should have a moist yet firm consistency.
