This is my fisrt instructable so please be kind. Since it is nearly Christmas, I thought it would be nice to show you how to make a pretty beaded christmas ornament. i have used seed beads, some fancyer beads and a few e-beads. They are pretty easy to make and look very pretty, provided you pick the right colours and match them to the right ball colours.

They make great ornaments and christmas presants. And the best part, if the ball breaks, you can just take the beads and place them on a new ball.

Step 1:
The materials you will need are

8 larger beads-I have used many different kinds
808 seed beads, in a few different colours that match your larger beads
4 e-beads-they can match or contrast to the seed beads. The e-beads are a bit larger then the seed beads.

Beading thread, can be bought by the spool.

Beading needle, kinda hard to thread otherwise

I use a paper plate to put the beads on, it helps to keep the from rolling around the table or all over the floor. Also keeps pets away from them.

The pattern, which i will be showing you. I got the pattern from the Big Book of Beaded Ornaments show below. It has alot of different ornaments.

Step 2

Take thread, put needle on thread.

Put 15 seed beads on the thread, I have found that tieing a knot around the first on helps to keep them all on there. Otherwise they will all slide off. I used 15 blue seed beads.

Then put on a fancy bead, (I used the blue flower disks in the demo)

Then put 15 seed beads and a fancy bead, repeat until you have used 4 of the 8 fancy beads.

Once you have all the beads on, thread the needle through the first 15 seed beads and fancy bead to form a circle.

Step 3

From the fancy bead thread on 33 seed bead. You can do a pattern or all the same beads. I used 10 blue beads, 1 yellow bead, 5 blue beads, 1 white bead, 5 blue beads, 1 yellow bead and then 10 blue beads.

Thread the needle through the next fancy bead and repeat the 33 bead pattern. Repet another two times. There should be 4 loops. Thread the needle throught the fancy bead again.

Step 4

Thread on 24 seed beads, then a fancy bead then 24 beads again. I used a pattern of 4 blue beads, 1 yellow, 4 blue beads, 1 yellow, 1 blue, 2 white, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 4 blue, 1 yellow, 4 blue.

Once you have the 2nd 24 beads done, thread through the fancy bead and repeat. Repeat another two times. There should be 4 loops.

Step 5

Take needle and thread through the next 24 beads and the fancy bead

Thread on 20 seed beads one e-bead and 20 more seed beads.

I used a pattern of 8 blue beads, 1 red, 2 yellow, 1 red, 8 blue, 1 e-bead, 8 blue, 1 red, 2 yellow, 1 red, 8 blue beads.

Thread it through the fancy bead and repeat the pattern. Repeat it again 2 more times. There should be 4 sets.

Step 6

Thread through the fancy bead, thread on 33 beads, then thread through the e-bead. Thread through the fancy bead and repeat. repeat 2 more times until there are 8 loops. Tie off the thread after the next fancy bead. I tied knots around the thread and tied a few knots to make sure they stayed.

The pattern I used was 5 blue, 1 red, 9 blue, 1 yellow, 1 white, 1 yellow, 9 blue, 1 red, and 5 blue.

Step 7

Find a christmas ball that matches or contrasts or whatever to the beads you used. Place the beads on the ornament around the top. It will stay in place by gravity. Hang on a tree or from any other place you would put them.

So there you have it. A very pretty christmas ornament. They are fun to experiment with and if you don't like the colours, you can always cut the string and start over.

I have also inclued a few others that I have done. Just to give you some ideas of different things you can do.
