Beats by Natalie, Vannessa, and Sam
How headphones work. Headphones or any kind of speaker have 3 main components. A diaphragm, a voice coil, and a strong magnet. The voice coil provides a magnetic field which pushes out the wavelengths to your ears. The diaphragm turns those vibrations into sounds. It has to be well connected to the voice coil and magnet. The magnet just helps provide the voice coil with the magnetic field.
Collect Materials
1. (2) 1/2 in. Of Neodymium magnets
2. (2) cups
3. 1 AUX cord/plug
4. Electrical Tape
5. Sand paper
6. 1 glue stick wrapped in (1) sticky note
7. 2 meters worth of 22 gauge wires
2. (2) cups
3. 1 AUX cord/plug
4. Electrical Tape
5. Sand paper
6. 1 glue stick wrapped in (1) sticky note
7. 2 meters worth of 22 gauge wires
Wrapping Time!
Grab your 2 meters worth of 22 gauge wire and slowly start wrapping the wire around the glue stick.
If you run out of room just push the wire together.
When done gently slide the wire off the glue stick.
This is called the Voice Coil
*Tip: Do not let wire go! Read next step.

Taping
When holding the wire down tape the side of it so it won't dissemble.
Make sure you do not tape the ends of the wire.
You will need to gently pull the ends of the wire where they are equal to each other. In length and distance.

Sanding
After taping down the wire, we are set to sand!
The ends you just made longer is what we are sanding.
Sand each end of the wire until the red cover comes off and all you see is the copper.

Setting the Magnet
Set the 1 of the neodymium magnet on the outside of the cup. Preferably in the middle.
Putting Everything Together
Once the magnet is set you need to put the voice coil (wire) around it.
The magnet should be in the middle
Tape down the voice coil and the magnet down to the cup firmly so it won't move around.
Do not tape the two ends of the voice coil down!

Creating and Connecting
Repeat Steps 2-8 to get your second cup
Grab enough wire that fits to your head and sand all of it until you see the copper.
Connect one end of each voice coil to the wire you just created by twisting or burning it together.

Aux Connector
Grab 2 different wires (however size you want it to be) and sand it down until you see the copper
When sanded connect the wires to the other ends of the voice coil.
Do not let the two wires touch.
*Tip: Wrap the two wires up in electrical tape to insure that they will not touch but leave at least 1 inch of the wire alone.

Wire Connecting to the AUX Plug
Now we wrap the two wires on the opposite sides of the AUX cord.
Make sure they are wrapped very tightly and that they DO NOT touch.

Hear Your Music
Once completing these steps you should have a working pair of headphones.
Now all you have to do is decorate the headphones how ever you want them to be.
