Bee Pool

Bees are part of our interdependent web of all existence and part of our community! They are very important neighbors. They help us by pollinating our food and our flowers, so let's help them by making them a safe place to drink water. Bees need a safe place to stand while they drink, so a solid dish with a pretty pattern of glass stones lets them perch on the stones while they drink from the water.

-terra cotta bowl (you could also use a plastic dish or a pie tin!)

-glass stones

-strong glue (I use Weldbond, because it's nontoxic, washes off hands easily, and glues anything to anything, but you could also use tacky glue! Elmers might wash away when you add water)

Plan out what you'd like your stones to look like before you glue them down. I decided to make a spiral!

Glue down the stones a few at a time. Once they are all glued, let them dry for at least 24 hours before you add water. (I didn't let it dry quite long enough before I took my final pictures. If you still see glue bubbles when you add water, it's not dry enough yet!)

Once it's dry (you can put it in the sun to dry faster!), you can add a little bit of water. You want to make sure the tops of the stones are still above the water so the bees have a place to stand! Then, set it outside near some flowers that bees like. The bees will thank you!
