Best Homemade Lasagna

Lasagna is one of my favorite dishes and I've found this recipe to be very good.

Supplies

  • Lasagna Sheets
  • Meat sauce
    - Ground Beef (500g)
    - Onion (1 Medium Size Onion)
    - Garlic (3 Cloves)
    - Crushed Tomatoes (500 mL)
    - Spices (Salt, Pepper, Cayenne, Oregano)
    - Lemon Juice (Half of a Lemon)
    - Olive Oil (4 Tablespoons)
  • Bechamel Sauce
    - Butter (7 tablespoons)
    - Milk (1L)
    - Salt (to taste)
    - White Pepper (to taste)
    - Flour (7 tablespoons)
  • Cheese (Optional)

Gather All Materials

Gather all materials so you have easy access to everything, allowing for fast cooking and easy clean-up.

Making Meat Sauce

  1. Dice the onion into small pieces and start cooking them in olive oil
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until brown
  3. Add salt & pepper
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and mix
  5. Add cayenne pepper, oregano, lemon juice, and mix
  6. Let the sauce simmer for around 30 minute
  7. If the sauce gets too thick, add water to thin it down

Béchamel Sauce

While the meat sauce is simmering, start the Béchamel sauce.

  1. Put the butter into a pot and mix in the flour
  2. Once the butter and flour is smooth, slowly add in the milk while stirring
  3. Add salt and white pepper to taste
  4. *Optional* Add in cheese once the sauce starts to thicken

  1. Place a small layer of the meat sauce onto the bottom of the tray
  2. Put a layer of lasagna sheets, followed by another layer of meat sauce
  3. Pour in a layer of bechamel sauce followed by the lasagna sheets
  4. Continue this pattern until you reach the top of the tray
  5. Pour bechamel sauce onto the top of the lasagna and make sure all lasagna sheets are covered with the sauce
  6. Place in the oven at 200°C for around 30-40 minutes.
  7. Let the Lasagna cool down for around 10 minutes before serving.
