Bicycle Tips and Tricks ? ?

2003_0329.jpg
Here are some Bicycle, How to do 's ? ?

I've been looking around at some Instructables on How to paint your bike.

I'm a Painter, either by rattle can / spray bomb or spray gun.

Been spraying paint for years, then spray gun painting for at least ten years.

I've worked in auto body shops, so I have learned a thing or two.

In all the Instructables I saw about painting,  No one removes the Headset & Bearing cups or the
Bottom Bracket cups !  I am so shocked !

They are pretty easy to remove,  so here are some tips.

Click on pictures for a larger view.

I don't know everything and do not claim to.

If you have tips to add please comment.

Remember about the Left Hand Thread....

You may as well clean and regreese the bearings and cups.

Only the L.H. side is the adjustable side.

Once there is no play, lock the cone with the nut on the crank arm.

Rotate a few times and check for play, re-adjust if nessary.

When replacing the Bottom bearing cups.

Easy way is with a Medium size bench vice.

You can also use wood blocks and a hammer.

You could also create a press with a threaded rod, washers and a few nuts.
