Bikebac Mod (speaker Removal)

I recently acquired a Bikebac at Sea Otter 2024!

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's essentially an air tag in a case specifically designed to mount under bike seats or under bottle cages. It's waterproof and designed for easy battery replacement.

My one complaint with the Bikebac is the beep that goes off when its "following" someone. It's clearly built in to fulfill a requirement by Apple, but I want mine silent.

Supplies

Remove Screws

The screws are threaded into brass inserts so it makes the screw removal and re-insertion stress free.

Remove PCB

The pcb is supported by two pins that extend through it and then mushroom to lock it place.

You'll need to scrape and/or cut of the mushroomed bit of plastic to free the pcb

Remove Speaker

I used a flush trip cutter again to break off the buzzer. It went super smoothly and popped right off!

Re-assemble

Put it back together, only without the speaker.

Re-install the screws and you're ready to go!

*there is a gasket in the groove so it should be waterproof once the screws are tightened.

**I don't know of a torque requirement, but the screws have a nice bottom out and it's easy to tell when the whole thing is snug.
