Blind Cube

Photo 125.jpg
This is a blind rubix cube that I made for a friends birthday.

I made it based similarly to gtig's version here

I just solved it, and it didn't take as long as I had anticipated.
All of the objects that are on it are also ones that I found around the house.
So, aside from the cube, this cost nothing.

Get Materials

For this, I ordered a cheap Rubix Cube on Amazon.
Anywhere is fine, you just need a base.

My materials were:

TO MAKE:
Glue Gun (with glue, lots of it)
Tweezers
Paper Cutter
Scissors

TEXTURES:
Adhesive-backed Green Felt
Clear Checkered Plastic Shelf Paper (found at nearest drugstore)
Small plastic 'X' Shaped tile spacers (randomly found them in my garage)
Fine Sand Paper
Coarse Sand Paper
Blank Rubix Cube Side (orange)

If these can't be found anything really could be used.
Small buttons
Foam pieces
If you go to a craft store there are millions of things that can be found.

Put It Together

For this, I cut each of my items up (if they weren't already shaped)

Everything was made into around 5/8" squares.

And then I just glued!

The thing to be careful about is gluing all of the squares, In order to get all the corners covered, and a light enough coat of glue I would put a blob of hot glue on a piece of cardboard and wipe the square across it (it just coated it enough)

Using the tweezers for swiping and placing the glued pieces was helpful.
