Board Games in Candy Tin

This activity is for children making board games by using empty candy tins. This game allows children to recall those board games played at home and school, and make or redesign the board games. It helps children develop fine motor skills and organsation skills. Also, it enhances children’s creativity and awareness of environmental protection by reusing objects or materials to create a more valuable product.

• 1 empty candy tin
• a card (e.g. student card, library card, business card or telephone card)
• a carton
• a pair of scissors
• a pencil and a ruler
• some crayons or coloured pencils
• some paper or construction paper
• 1 white glue / glue stick

Use pencil to outline the card on the carton, and cut the cards with scissors.

Draw board game pieces on the carton with crayons and cut them.

Draw a checkerboard on the card with crayons or coloured pencils.

In this game, for example, players play a round of Rock-Paper-Scissors. The players who won the Rock-Paper-Scissors move 1 step, while the other players stay still. The first player who reached the colored symbol wins the game. Have fun!

Use pencil to outline the candy tin on the construction paper, colour it, and cut it out. Then, stick the board game cover to the candy tin with white glue.
