Bottle Lamp

Hi!

In this instructable, I will show you how to create a lamp with a reclaimed bottle.

There are different way to do but this one is my favourite because you can't see any hole in the bottle and the bottle is not just a foot for the lamp.

Supplies

You will need:

- 1 piece of wood (mine was a piece of pallet)

- 1 socket with switch

- 1 bulb

- Miter saw

- Drilling machine

- Wood boring drill bit (size of your socket)

- Tile drill bit

- 1 rag

- Water

- Vices

- Hammer

- Dremel

- Sand paper

- Your favorite bottle

- Glue

Think safety first! Use gloves and protection glasses to avoid injuries!

Prepare Your Bottle

You have to make a hole in the bottom of the bottle.

First, fill the bottle with water (full), this will help not to break the bottle while drilling.

Cover the bottle with the rag to avoid water to damage the label.

Put the bottle in a vice for example, be carefull to not tighten too hard.

Drill It

Begin to drill the bottom. Tile drill bit needs water to drill correctly.

Do some holes in the bottle and connect them together (1mm deep minimum).

Gently tap on the bottom with the hammer to break the glass.

Empty the bottle, becarefull, there are small pieces of glass inside.

Smooth the Edges

With the dremel and/or sand paper, smooth the edges.

Remove the rag and clean your bottle.

The bottle is ready!

Make It Square

Take your wood and make it square!

Mine was, at the end, 9*9*6cm. Make it the size you want.

It will depend of the size of your bottle and the height of your socket.

Drill It

Find the center of your wood and drill a hole the size of your socket on the top.

Drill also a hole the size of the socket's wire on the bakc.

Make It Smaller

I have reduced the size of the socket because I did not wanted to see it trough the bottle (here, the bottle is not translucid, but I made an other one where you could see it).

Also remove the wires from the socket.

Wire It

Pass the wire trough the hole and connect it to the socket. Put the bulb on and test it.

If it works, glue the socket in the hole.

Glue It

Glue the bottle on the wood and tadaaam!

Enjoy your new lamp!
