Breadboard Wire Maze
Navigate your way through this maze-- while trying not to touch the wire and set off the buzzer!
This circuit uses wire as a conductor for the electricity, and when the 'wand' and 'maze' meet, the circuit completes, allowing for electricity to flow through and turn on the buzzer. Try timing how long it takes to successfully get through the maze-- and if you're up for the challenge, try making the maze even more complex!
Supplies
~15 inches uninsulated wire
1x breadboard
1x buzzer
2x 1.5 volt batteries and battery pack (with aligator clips)
Creating the Maze
Leaving about 4 inches on each end, bend the wire into the shape of your maze.
Adding the Breadboard
Insert one end of the wire into Row 1 at the top of the breadboard. Put the other end of the wire in the negative rail.
Inserting the Buzzer
In the same row (Row 1) of the breadboard, insert the negative (shorter) leg of the buzzer. Insert the positive (longer) leg into Row 4.
Connecting the Battery
Connect one end of the jumper wire to Row 4, and the other end to the positive end of the battery.
Making the Wand
Make the ‘wand’ with a small loop of wire that fits loosely around the maze. Connect the end of the wand to the negative end of the battery. Now, when the wand touches the maze, the buzzer turns on!
