Build Your Own Poi

Ever wanted to start learning poi but dont want to spend a fortune on some factory made poi? Well now you can make your own with this easy instructable.
You will need:
2 tennis balls
2 bolts
2 wing nuts
2 ordinary nuts that fit your bold
2 washers (optional)
assortment of cable ties
2 lengths of chord twice the length of your arm

Incase you haven't already noticed this is for making a pair of pois so you will need to carry out each step twice.

Tools are:
pliers
drill or spike
scissors

Ball Preperation

Take your ball and mark two points directly opposite eachother.
Then drive your drill or spike through these 2 points to make a hole for the bolt to go through.

Making the Chord

Fold the chord in half and tie the ends together.
Next make a small loop in it at the bottom and tie it with a cabel tie.
Then make a double loop in the other end of the loop and tie that with a cable tie.

Preparing the Bolt and Adding the Chord

Put the wing nut on the bolt as showen (this assembly can be repaced by using a bolt with a loop at the top, I think they're called eye bolts or something)
Next twist the single loop we made with the cable tie around the botl. The wing nut stops it comming off the end.

Final Assembly

Push the end of the bolt through the first hole and out the other one so now the bolt goes all the way through.
Drop the washer over the bolt end and then screw on the nut.
The washer stops the nut from being pulled through the hole and into the ball.

The Final Product

Well, if you have followed everything corectly you should now have one poi.
To make the second, just do every thing again.
