Small Wood Box Built From 1 Pack of Six Inch Paint Stirrers (30 Per Pack) From Home Depot
Small box made from single pack of 30 paint stirrers, each 6 inches long from Home Depot. The challenge was to see what can be made with a single pack of 30 paint stirrers.
Supplies
- Pack of 30 paint stirrers, each 6 inches long from Home Depot.
- Wood glue
- Heavy duty snips
Cut 11 Paint Stirrers in Half
- Use tape measure to measure 1/2 of a paint stirrer.
- Take 11 paint stirrers and cut each one in half, using the first one cut to measure it out.
- These will form the base and walls of the box.
- There should be 22 pieces of wood.
Cut Paint Stirrers
For each of the remaining 19 paint stirrers, use the heavy duty snips to do the following:
- Cut each paint stirrers in half. If necessary, use the tape measure for this step.
- For each half, cut into quarters
- For each quarter, cut into eighths
- Each paint stirrer should produce 8 pieces
- After you are done, you should have 152 pieces of wood.
Glue 1/8 Pieces Into Blocks
- Glue 5 pieces of wood together to form blocks.
- You should end up with 30 small blocks
- 2 extra pieces of wood will be left over.
Start to Build Up Box
- Glue 6 half-pieces of paint stirrers to build the base with 4 primary pieces and 2 cross pieces.
- Next, glue 4 blocks that were created in the previous step on each corner.
- Glue 2 cross half-pieces onto the blocks.
- Once again, glue 4 blocks onto each corner.
- Now, glue 2 more cross pieces, 90 degrees opposite to the cross pieces glued on the previous level.
- Repeat until the box is half finished.
Finish Building Box
- Keep repeating until all blocks and cross pieces are used.
- You will end up with 2 extra blocks and 1 cross piece.
- After these are used, they will make one side higher than the other at the end.
Completed Box
- Completed box. One side should be higher than the other.
- Optional: add extra glue to each side to reinforce the joints.
