Built-in Webcam Cover
There are people who would not trust the internet with their privacy. Some put permanent stickers on their webcams to physically disconnect. But, we all need to make a video call every now and then. What to do if the sticker is removed and we don't have access to another? Paper can do the job, given it would not fly away with a blow. Here is a quick fix.
Find a Rectangular Piece of Paper
Even a piece of note paper will do!
Make a Paper Accordion
Aline the smaller side of the paper with the lower edge of the top of the computer frame (where the webcam is).
Do a Fold
Fold the paper so that the rest of the paper would go to the back of laptop
3 More Creases Parallel to the First
Then, we gotta make 3 more creases parallel to the first crease with the same spacing. Just fold it in three times (please ignore the crease in the middle :))
Cut the Accordion Out
Cut the paper in two from the forth crease and save the accordion part
Turn the Rectangle Into a Square
Turn the rectangular accordion into a square accordion, as shown in the pictures. Save the square part!
The Almost Final Foldings
Fold the square diagonally. Then, put the lower corner of the triangle to the centre of the triangle base and make a folding. The other two corners of the triangles meet at the same point as the first corner. So, put the corners at centre of the base and make the foldings as in the pictures. You are left with a new rectangle!
The Last Crease
open the rectangle back into the triangle and make a folding on the dashed line (shown in the picture). The distance between this crease and the crease parallel to it takes the width of the laptop screen into account
Mount the Cover on Laptop
should not be hard to figure how to install the cover on a laptop. Note that you gotta do the creases one more time at the end to have a firm cover. Cheers!
