Business Card Flashlight

This is an interesting & purposeful application of paper circuits using which you can make a purse/wallet flashlight to be used in dark areas like cinema hall, emergency etc.

Skills: Intermediate

Materials:

1. Aluminum foil/Aluminum tape/copper tape

2. LED

3. Coin cell

4. A piece of foam or cardboard

5. Two visiting/business cards

6. Sheet of paper (optional)

7. Pencil

8. Adhesive (fevicol)

Tracing the Circuit

Take a lighter grade pencil and make a rough layout or path on one of your business cards along which the circuit will be placed.You will have to place the tape, an LED and a battery on the marked areas.

Cutting the Foam

First, cut the foam as the same dimensions of the visiting card. Also, cut small openings for placing the LED and battery.

Assembling the Circuit.

Pull the LED legs apart and place one leg on the pencil trace and stick on the card with aluminum tape using

adhesive.

The LED should be placed in such a way that one of the leads is in the air and the other touches the surface of the card. Note the polarity of leads so as to place the battery properly.

The aluminum tape should extend till the battery.

Now carefully place the second card over the LED and battery such that the hanging leg of the LED is fixed onto

the back side of the second card using aluminum tape.

Press the switch marked on the card, voila, it’s up and running.
