Butterfly Hat
This is a nice butterfly hat that can be worn on many occasions, such as earth day, national butterfly day, or just to show off the amazing creation you made. All these materials are recycled, so you can save the environment.
Supplies
The supplies you will need are:
- Cardboard
- 2 different colors of construction paper
- Scissors
- Sharpie
- Tape
Cut Your Pieces
Cut a circle with a diameter of 7 inches. This will be your base.
Then, cut out a rectangle with a length of 12 inches and a height of 6.75 inches. You can adjust the height however you like.
Roll a Cylinder
Use the rectangle you cut out to form a cylinder. To do this, roll it up and and put tape on the top and the bottom.
Attach the Cylinder to the Base
Stick the cylinder to the base and tape it down.
Butterfly Wings
To make the butterfly wings, use your cardboard. To draw the wings, you can draw 2 commas on the cardboard. When you reverse and switch them around, they will form 2 wings.
Decorating the Wings
Use your sharpie to decorate the wings how ever you like. You add make it striped, polka-dotted, or multi-colored. I made mine as realistic as possible.
Draw the Body
On the front of the hat, draw the body. To do this, draw a small line with a circle at the top. Then draw 2 curly antennae on the head.
Tape the Wings to the Body on the Hat
Roll the tape into small tubes, then stick it to the body.
Optional:Head Strap
If the hat doesn't stay on your head, cut some strips of construction paper and measure it around your chin to the top of you head. Then, tape it to the sides of the hat.
Finished Product
Now, you're done! You now have a fashionable hat with a cute butterfly on it. If you want some extra touches, you can add some LED lights on the butterfly wings. Then in the dark, they will light up and look very pretty.
