Hi,I'm ugbana, a student of the federal university of technology owerri in nigeria

my laptop charger hangs off the side of the my table and there's the risk of it getting damaged if stepped on so i made the cable organizer to help keep my laptop charger in place and reduce the risk of damage

MATERIALS NEEDED

  • A 3d printer with filament (i used an ender 3v2 from my school's lab, filament depends on you i personally used pla for ease)
  • hot glue gun with glue sticks
  • AB glue
  • ruler or calipers

TAKING MEASUREMENTS

The first step is to get the thickness of your table and cable wire using a ruler or caliper,(my thickness was 40mm so thats what i'll use)

  1. create a sketch using the measurements shown
  2. Extrude the sketch by 8mm
  3. Fillet the top and bottom faces
  4. Select the side face and create sketch using the measurements shown
  5. Extrude the sketched profile by 1.5mm

this requires some calculation.

since the thickness of my table is 40mm, I'll need to find the length of the base of the tetrahedron using PYTHAGORAS THEOREM

you'll also need to find the height of the tetrahedron using the formula in PHOTO 3

if you got that out of the way you're good to go

  1. Find the length of the base of the tetrahedron using PYTHAGORAS THEOREM
  2. Using the edge polygon tool, sketch an equilateral triangle(3-sided polygon), where the solution to the PYTHAGORAS THEOREM (56.56mm) is the length of the sides.
  3. With the height of the tetrahedron gotten from the formula in PHOTO 3(23.1mm), offset the sketch.
  4. Select the offset plane and create a sketch, looking from the top view, draw a POINT on the center of the equilateral triangle, and finish sketch
  5. Loft the triangle plane and the point sketched in step 4 to create a tetrahedron
  6. Using the shell command, select the bottom face of the tetrahedron and shell with a thickness of 1.5mm
  7. Select a one of the three faces of the tetrahedron, and create a sketch, using a construction line dividing the triangular face down the middle
  8. Sketch two rectangles using the dimensions in PHOTO 8
  9. Offset the rectangles by 0.75mm
  10. Extrude cut the rectangles into the tetrahedron
  11. Fillet the edges

sliced using CURA

I only increased my layer height to 0.3mm, I left the rest of my settings as default

  1. Using the AB glue, glue the clip and tetrahedron in the orientation as shown in the photo.
  2. using the hot glue gun apply hot glue on the innerwalls and stick to the corner of your table as shown
  3. ENJOY!
